About Ideia Partners

Ideia Partners is an advisory and investment firm, providing clients with independent advice to unlock exceptional returns. We have deep expertise in working with businesses, financial institutions and governments, uniquely positioning us to identify and create opportunities at the intersection of private and public institutions.

Our hands-on senior team is actively involved in every engagement, delivering advice on strategy, transactions and project development - with focus on property, mid-cap and high-growth companies. We connect capital where it counts across Australia’s real assets, services & technology and government sectors.

We’re built to move like an investor, not a traditional advisory firm - small team, high ownership, no bureaucracy between you and the decision.

About the role

Twelve months in, a successful analyst will own the working models on live mandates, run first-pass diligence on opportunities presented to the principal, keep transaction documents moving through negotiation rounds, and produce research the principal can rely on without re-checking. You will operate with light supervision on process and be in the room for the substantive discussions.

How we work

You will sit close to a partner-led team with broad experience across investment, transactions and government - not behind layers of a graduate program.

What you will do

• Build and maintain financial models across live workstreams: integrated three-way models, joint venture and shareholder distribution models, development feasibility and capital recovery analyses, and scenario builds comparing base and aggressive cases

• Run first-pass diligence on investor memoranda and acquisition opportunities: pressure-test the model, check the valuation logic, and flag structural, commercial and disclosure gaps early

• Support transaction documentation: prepare term sheets, maintain issues lists and commercial deviation schedules across engagement letters, shareholders’; deeds, option agreements and licence agreements, and keep redlines organised across negotiation rounds (legal advice stays with the lawyers; you make sure nothing commercial slips through)

• Prepare client and investor materials: information memoranda, mandate proposals, board papers and fairness analyses

• Work confidently with AI tools - create better processes and practices for day-to-day workstreams, enabling focus on value-adding tasks.

• Research sectors from primary sources (regulators, ABS, APRA and equivalents), build sector maps and target lists for buy-and-build theses, and maintain precedent transaction data

• Map and track government funding instruments relevant to client mandates, including eligibility, timing and how programs interact

• Run processes day to day: data rooms, diligence trackers, counterparty follow-ups and coordination with lawyers, accountants and other advisers

What we are looking for

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, economics, accounting, law or a related field, with a strong academic record

• 0–3 years of relevant experience; investment banking, corporate finance, transaction services, private equity or the corporate group of a law firm are all genuinely relevant backgrounds for this seat

• Advanced Excel and a solid grounding in accounting and valuation

• Familiarity with legal documents: able to read a shareholders’ deed or engagement letter, extract the commercial terms, and track what changed between versions

• Exceptional attention to detail and clear, plain-English drafting

• Full Australian working rights

Preferred

• Progress toward the CA or CFA program or completed

• Exposure to financial services (banking and insurance), startups, technology, education, infrastructure and or real estate sectors

• Comfortable in a small, high-ownership team - you can take a brief directly and run with it
